Classroom Presentation Guidelines
Report classroom presentations at www.nyib.org, or call your regional coordinator.
To qualify as a NYIB reportable presentation, the classroom or youth activity must be conducted to a group of students or youth audience under the age of 26.
Presentations are defined as a structured (formal) presentation to a group of young people, not as a "conversation" with three students about financial issues or credit union services
Presentations can be conducted in a broad range of educational settings, including a traditional classroom, scout troop meeting, church group, community group, etc.
Qualifying presentations can be made by credit union employees, league employees and/or credit union volunteers. All presentations are reported and recorded individually.
Acceptable presentations can be conducted on these and other consumer and financial related topics:
- Credit Union History, Philosophy and/or Uniqueness
- Money Management = saving, spending, checking, budgeting, credit, lending, insurance, etc.
- Consumer Education = smart shopping and/or other consumer focused issues
- Employment = interviewing, resumes, careers in CU's, etc.
- Business, finance, employment and any other related topic.
- High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP) presentations.
- Junior Achievement and/or other youth related programs focused on finance
Note: Please report each JA and/or HSFPP module or session separately
and individually at www.nyib.org or contact your NYIB Regional Coordinator.
Presentations that promote a specific credit union or credit union service, such as youth savings club or teen programs are important, but do not qualify. In addition, visits to schools to pick-up deposits for credit union/savings programs or operations of student branches do not qualify.
Presentations to the Same Groups: HSFPP and Junior Achievement (JA) presentations or other multiple presentations made to the same group of students should be entered as separate classroom visits, however, the students should only be entered once. Please enter zero in the number of youth area for the second as well as for the other visits. For example, if you complete a series of presentations to the same class of 23 students over the course of nine weeks, you will be given credit for nine (9) presentations reaching 23 students, not 207 students.
NYIB Reporting Year: The NYIB reporting year runs from July 1st through July 1st of the following year. This is set to coincide with a typical school year and with the NYIB Annual Meeting and Conference held each summer. Presentations can be reported at any time throughout the above-identified school year form July 1st to July 1st.
