About the Conference

Scholarships and Awards

To demonstrate pride in and gratefulness for our network of volunteers, the National Youth Involvement Board recognizes exemplary contributions with annual awards and scholarships for professional development.

Among the scholarships and awards given to members of the NYIB Network are:

Scholarship
Application
Robert L. Curry Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to one league liaison or state delegate within the NYIB Network. The scholarship covers lodging and registration to the NYIB Annual Conference.  Recipient will be notified no later than April 30, 2009.

Regional Scholarships

Three scholarships cover registration to the NYIB Annual Conference. The NYIB regions are divided into West, Central and East for the scholarships.  Recipients will be notified no later than April 30, 2009.

"Serving the Underserved" Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded to cover registration to the NYIB Annual Conference. The scholarship will be awarded to an individual working with a low income designated credit union or one that focuses on serving an underserved market. Recipient will be notified no later than April 30, 2009.

Development Education Training Scholarship

Up to two NYIB scholarships may be awarded annually to persons in the NYIB Network to attend the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) Training. Visit www.ncuf.coop to find out more about the Foundation's CUDE program. The scholarship covers registration fees. Travel costs are not included.

World Council of Credit Unions' Leadership Institute Scholarship

One scholarship may be awarded annually to an NYIB Network member to attend the WOCCU World Credit Union Conference July 26-29, 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. The scholarship covers registration to the conference. Travel costs are not included. Visit www.woccu.org for more details on the conference and WYCUP (WOCCU's Young Credit Union People Program).

Top Classroom Presenter Scholarships

Annually, the NYIB Network members who represent the top two in classroom presentations may be recognized with a scholarship covering registration to the NYIB Annual Conference in August 2009 in Tempe, AZ. Travel expenses are not included.

The scholarships may be awarded to the individual with the highest percentage increase in the number of students reached and the individual with the highest percentage increase in the number of presentations conducted during the preceding school year.

These scholarships do not require an application.  They are based on the results obtained from the final NYIB classroom presentation report for the preceding school year.

Clarification: In order to share the opportunity and encourage additional attendance to the NYIB Annual Conference, the top recipients will only receive the scholarship once.

Outstanding Delegate of the Year Award

This award recognizes the outstanding efforts made by a state delegate within the NYIB Network.  Recipient will not be notified until the 2009 Awards Reception in Tempe, AZ.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award

This award recognizes the outstanding efforts made by someone other than a state delegate within the NYIB Network.  Receipient will not be notified until the Awards Luncheon, held on July 29, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.

NYIB Advocate Award

This award recognizes an individual's continued dedication to the National Youth Involvement Board, both as a true advocate of the organization and as an active member of the network committed to nationwide youth-related efforts. One individual may receive the award annually at the discretion of the NYIB Executive Committee. If so, the receipient will named at the 2009 Awards Reception in Tempe, AZ.


Additional Information

All scholarship applications and Outstanding Award nominations should be submitted to Rebecca Isaacs of the NYIB Executive Committee, along with a picture for publication, no later than April 14, 2008.

Scholarship recipients must attend all sessions at the NYIB Annual Conference, then submit a synopsis of information gained by attending and how he or she will use it in the future. The completed synopsis should be delivered to the NYIB Executive Committee and the National Credit Union Foundation within three months of receiving the applicable scholarship.

All scholarship recipients will be notified by April 30, 2009 to allow ample time to register and make reasonable lodging and travel arrangements.
